With the festive season gone, and a new year ahead of us, join writer, lecturer and Halfmoon partner Christina Thatcher on a relaxed write and ramble over the landscapes of north Cardiff, in Wales. The walk will be based around the theme “Expectations and Memories”, where participants will learn how to use their own experiences, memories, and emotional understanding of place to inspire the writing. Participants will also explore the history of Taffs Wells, the forest, and Castell Coch, the famous fairytale castle…
As always, the walk will be followed by lunch and further writing, hosted at the Taffs Well Inn. Christina will read some of her own work, and lead a workshop designed to encourage writers to overlay their childhood memories on their experiences of walking through forests, and secret passages of the landscape.
The walk has a number 3 Boot rating, ranging from moderate/easy, distancing 3 miles through industrial, residential, woodland, and village landscapes. The workshop will be informal, supportive, and inspiring, so anyone who loves walking — whether they’re a fledgling or experienced writer — are welcome to take part.
