‘In my beginning is my end. In succession
Houses rise and fall, crumble, are extended,
Are removed, destroyed, restored, or in their place
…an open field….’
East Coker, T. S. Eliot
This final True Summer workshops will take us to the tranquil settings of Moseley Park, just two miles from the centre of our second city.
Starting on the Eastside of the park; the workshop will take a central path through the grounds, with two or three stop off points along the way. Writers will be encouraged to gather inspiration and raw material, casting a poetic eye over the landscape; in particular, its sense of movement and change. This is a chance for you to explore your own inspirations in a unique setting, with professional guidance and support.
Poet & writer Helen Calcutt will lead the walk. Small tasks will be set to give the writing focus, but as always the theme is open to interpretation. Writing will then continue in Moseley Village (venue TBC); with time for lunch, refreshments and readings. We encourage all genres of writer to attend, with the content of the workshop suitable for playwrights, poets, novelists and enthusiasts.
As always, whether an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop has no limitations, so long as you bring a pen, some paper and an open mind.
Places cost £14 per person, and are open to all ages.
